Bend, Oregon USA -- 12/23/2014 Another change that was implemented last week is that user access was updated and bikes are no longer allowed in the new skatepark. Bikes are welcome at the old skatepark at the parks northern end. Known in the community as "Pondi," the old skatepark is multi-use and open to bikes, scooters and skateboards. * Toys, Bikes Provided During Food Bank Event. Moses Lake, Washington USA -- 12/23/2014 Hundreds of Moses Lake families benefited from the generosity of others on Saturday as Community Services of Moses Lake gave away toys and bicycles for the holidays. Moses Lake residents gathered early and in bunches for CSMLs toy giveaway. * Will Cavelero Community Park Have A BMX Track, It Looks That Way. Lake Stevens, Washington USA -- 12/16/2014 On Tuesday, December 9th, Kevin Teague, Senior Park Planner for Snohomish County Parks and Recreation and Rebecca Ableman from the City of Lake Stevens presented three alternative park plans to a full house. The Lake Stevens Fire District Conference Room was filled with people of all ages. Kids to senior citizens came to view the plans and give their opinions. The majority of the audience appeared to be affiliated with the BMX Group, who were allowed to make a brief presentation. BMX is an individual sport where teams are sometimes involved in side competition but its really like one big family. * Tears For Teen Skateboarder Who Died After Downtown Crash. Boise, Idaho USA -- 12/07/2014 The skateboarding community is remembering a teen who died after a crash in downtown Boise. Family and friends held a skatepark vigil Sunday evening for Brenden Rogers, 13. Police say the Boise teen had been riding a skateboard downtown when he collided with a large pick-up truck that was leaving a parking garage. The circumstances are still unclear, but Rogers later died from his injuries. * Bicycle Project Seeking Donations. Medford, Oregon USA -- 11/15/2014 Local skaters who use the skateboard park at Medfords Bear Creek Park are concerned about a request by trick bike riders who are seeking a rule change at the facility. The Medford Parks and Recreation Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and will likely discuss the request to allow bikers to use the skate park. * Thousands Of Dollars In Bikes, Equipment Stolen At Popular BMX Track. Sumner, Washington USA -- 11/12/2014 Who would steal from kids? That’s the question a local community wants answered after thieves stole thousands of dollars in crucial equipment used to run a popular BMX track. For 15-year-old Marcus Hutko, biking is everything. His home away from home is the River Valley BMX Park in Sumner. Right now, he would normally be on his bike, but Marcus cant ride here anymore. In fact, no one can. * Bellingham Police Recover $46k Worth Of Stolen Bikes From Transients. Bellingham, Washington USA -- 11/05/2014 A police officer and his police dog who were patrolling an area hit by bicycle thieves found two men with two stolen bikes and then found eight more stolen bikes at a campsite nearby, police say. The 10 bikes were valued at a total of $46,600, and the two men were arrested early Wednesday, Nov. 5, near the 800 block of Fraser Street. * Old Spokes Home Gives New Life To More Than 600 Bikes Per Year. Tacoma, Washington USA -- 11/01/2014 The sign hanging at the Browns Point house says Old Spokes Home, but this isnt where old bikes go to live out their final days. Its where old bikes go to be young again. * Detectives Target Bicycle Thieves Connected To Drug Crimes. Seattle, Washington USA ( Kiro 7 News ) -- 10/31/2014 Detectives from Seattle, the University of Washington campus, Bellevue, and Olympia say bicycle thefts are on the rise. They believe the thefts are connected to drug dealers and users. We suspect that a lot of money that is going towards these bikes is going towards buying drugs, said Laura Wohl of Olympia Police. * Teenager On Bicycle Hit By Car In Moses Lake Saturday. Moses Lake, Washington USA -- 10/27/2014 A Moses Lake teenage bicyclist was injured when he was struck by a car on state Route 17 near Nelson Road in Moses Lake Saturday afternoon. The 14 -year-old boy was crossing the intersection and reportedly did not yield to the oncoming car. Police did not say whether or not he was wearing a helmet. * Long-Awaited Skate Bowl To Be Built In Burton. Burton - Vashon, Washington USA -- 10/22/2014 Almost four years after the Vashon Park District received a King County grant to build an outdoor skatepark, commissioners have voted to move ahead with the project, and construction of a skate bowl at the Burton Adventure Recreation Center (BARC) is expected to begin soon. The project was conceived nearly a decade ago but has been impeded by considerable delays. * BMXer Claims Caldwell Police Violated His Rights During Detaining. Caldwell, Idaho USA -- 10/20/2014 Joe Dondero says back in August he and a group of friends were showing of their biking talents at the Plaza Skate Park in Caldwell when an officer approached them for being in the park after hours. The park closes at 11:00. The police report says the officer arrived at 11:12. He just rolled in and said the park is closed. Go home. He gave us maybe 30 seconds. He said did I stutter? Basically that was enough to tick off some people and that is exactly what happened, Dondero told reporter Chris Oswalt. Kent, Washington USA -- 09/29/2014 A 51 year old Kent man who raced BMX-style bicycles while claiming he was too disabled to work stands accused of defrauding the state. The Washington Attorney Generals Office filed first-degree theft charges against Tony T.
