For 15 years veteran and aspiring BMX (bicycle motocross) riders and skateboarders of all ages have gathered at the City of Sequim skateboard park and neighboring BMX track in Carrie Blake Park, but its becoming increasingly unsafe to do so. * State Nonprofits Cascade Bicycle Club, Washington Bikes Merge. Seattle, Washington USA ( BRAIN )-- 12/09/2015 The boards of directors of the Cascade Bicycle Club and Washington Bikes approved the merger of the two organizations. The merger will create the nations largest statewide bicycle nonprofit, the groups said in a press release. - See The News * Press Release. * Revamped Boise Skate Park Could Be Big Economic Boost. Boise, Idaho USA -- 12/04/2015 The City of Trees could very well receive a big economic boost once the revamped Rhodes Skatepark is complete. The construction foreman says the world-class project is on schedule and will be ready for skateboarders and BMX bikers by April. The skate park was designed with both beginners and professionals in mind. * Sports Briefs: Indoor BMX Bike Track Planned For Hermiston. Hermiston, Oregon USA -- 12/01/2015 An indoor bicycle motocross (BMX) track is currently under development in Hermiston. A Facebook page created by Jayson Tracy, called Hermiston BMX, is up and Tracy hopes to have the project completed and ready for competition by March. |

Covington, Washington USA -- 10/16/2015 The Covington skateboard park, Gerry Crick Skate Park, is getting a long-overdue face lift next year. King County announced a $30,000 grant from Youth Sport Facilities Grant program for the upgrade. * Sumner Selected For Hosting 2016 USA BMX National Series. Sumner, Washington USA -- 10/15/2015 USA BMX, the worlds largest bicycle motocross sanctioning body, and Tacoma South Sound Sports Commission are delighted to announce that River Valley BMX in Sumner, WA has been selected as one of the host sites for the 2016 USA BMX National Series.   Cashmere Pump Track At Riverside Park In Cashmere, Washington USA The new bike pump track is about 85 feet long by 60 feet wide and contains 120 cubic yards of dirt. The pump track replaces a sand volley ball court which wasnt being used. The pump track was built by local volunteers and the expertise of Evergreen Bike Alliance. The pump track opened in October 2015 at Riverside Park which was opened in 1987 and is a centerpiece of the Cashmere park system and is located along the Wenatchee River off Riverside Drive in Cashmere Wa. Coeur d'Alene, Idaho USA -- 06/04/2015 Brian Donnell said the riders at the Cherry Hill BMX track in Coeur d'Alene range from 2 to 76 years old. The summer season kicks off on Saturday with the Warnicke Scholarship Race. Cherry Hill BMX, the volunteer organization which runs the track, will host a day of free racing on June 20. Donnell said since the event is during Father's Day weekend, he is encouraging dads to come to the track and ride with their kids. |

 The UCI Innovates By Integrating BMX Freestyle Park Into Its Development Strategy. of BMX Freestyle Park(1) as a new UCI cycling discipline via the launch of the UCI BMX Freestyle Park World Cup. The first edition of the UCI BMX Freestyle Park World Cup will be held in 2016. This competition will be part of the FISE World Series, the International Festival of Extreme Sports. The UCI will call on the experience of the company Hurricane Company, which has been organising the FISE World Series for nearly 20 years. But now, organizers of the nonprofit group say the outpouring of support since the robbery has been overwhelming. Volunteers said in the last two months, they’ve been burglarized twice and graffiti and trash continue to line their property despite clean-up efforts. Othello, Washington USA -- 04/29/2015 The City of Othello is moving forward with a brick fundraising program that will go toward the construction of the city's Dan Dever Memorial Skatepark. After approving the park's final design in January, Spohn Ranch Skateparks, a skatepark design and construction firm headquartered in Industry, Calif., recently forwarded the city construction documents for review. construction of the park is tentatively set to begin on June 8, with construction estimated to be complete by July 13. * Organizers Hope To Bring Ramp Riot Back Next Year. Tonasket, Washington USA -- 04/21/2015 Dylan Douke claimed first place in the advanced skaters overall division Sunday at the sixth annual T-Town Bowl Bomb at Tonasket Skate Park. Categories for the skateboard competition included regular heats, best line and best tricks. Participants were divided into age categories and, in open heats, had 90 seconds of continues skating. Tony T. Perry Sr., 52, pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree theft, a gross misdemeanor, in Thurston County Superior Court. Judge Anne Hirsch sentenced Perry to 364 days in jail, but suspended all but 15 days if he obeys the law for two years. She is allowing him to serve the 15 days in electronic home monitoring, according to the Washington Attorney Generals office. Boise, Idaho USA -- 02/10/2015 With a million dollar jumpstart from the Albertson Foundation, plans are moving quickly to turn a downtown Boise eyesore into a sight to behold: a world-class skateboard park. And the Albertson Foundation is also donating some $250,000 for landscaping to compliment the 20-year-old skate parks make over. * Skate Park, Playgrounds Coming To Cavelero Hill. Lake Stevens, Washington USA -- 02/04/2015 A draft master plan for the 33-acre community park includes a covered skate park, basketball court, an indoor BMX facility, volleyball courts, playgrounds and several commercial buildings. There also would be plazas, picnic shelters, parking lots and expanded off-leash dog areas. * Kuna Shuts Down BMX Track. Kuna, Idaho USA -- 02/04/2015 Last October the organizers for Indian Creek BMX received a letter from the City of Kuna notifying them that their lease for the BMX track just West of the Bridge Street Bridge in Kuna greenbelt was not going to be renewed. (The BMX dirt course next to the skate park will remain.) The city said that the no-cost lease for use of the property was being canceled because the track did not fit with the future beautification plans the city has for that portion of the greenbelt. As Holyk approached an intersection, a witness saw him pop a wheelie and proceed into the intersection against a red light. Othello, Washington USA -- 01/29/2015 The City of Othello is pleased to announce that after many years of preparation and hard work, plans have been approved to bring a skatepark to Lions Park later this year. Club organizer Mike Leeds has designed a concrete mini ramp and hopes to raise enough money to build it this year.
